Yaseen Abdalla

Olympic Marathoner  ·  Founder of Run Plus Coaching  ·  Coach

Where It Started

Yaseen Abdalla ran his first 5K in 24:42. He was on the JV cross country team. He didn't make varsity.

Most people would have stopped there. Running wasn't his thing. The times said so. The roster said so. Nothing about that first season suggested what was coming.

The Decision

What changed wasn't talent. It was a decision to take the process seriously — to treat training as a system rather than a schedule, to understand why every session existed rather than just completing it, and to build the physical, mental, and technical foundation that serious running requires.

The next years were not linear. There were injuries, transfers, setbacks, and seasons where the work didn't show up in the results. There were moments that would have ended most people's running careers.

Yaseen kept building.

The Outcome

2024. Paris, France. The Olympic Marathon.

Yaseen Abdalla crossed the finish line in 2:11:41 — a Sudanese national record, and a result that placed him among the best marathon runners in the world at the Olympic Games. Representing Sudan on the world's largest athletic stage, 9 years after a 24-minute 5K.

The method worked.

Why Run Plus Coaching

The reason Run Plus Coaching exists is simple: the system that produced that result is teachable. It is not about genetics or natural talent. It is about building the right foundation — physically, mentally, and technically — and adjusting that foundation continuously based on what's actually happening in your training.

That's what the plans are built on. That's what the community practices. That's what the coaching delivers.

If a 24-minute 5K can become a 2:11 marathon over 9 years of systematic work, the question for every runner isn't whether improvement is possible. It's whether you have the right system.
